The Drive Home
I always envied friends who managed to take pictures of nearly every moment of their lives. Even at times where I felt like pulling out a camera was obnoxious, I envy the opportunities those moments provide to reminisce.

So I realized as I was leaving El Paso that I sort of failed to take any pictures of the place and of my sister and myself. The thought didn't hit me until I was into hour #1 of my drive and I hit a border patrol checkpoint- something I did not expect to see. Then I attempted to take some photos of my surroundings during my drive. Yes, I know that taking pictures while driving may seem unsafe, but I'm still alive so take that!
My original intent was to take photos at each location I stopped at, but that didn't really work. Plus, other than stopping for gas and to eat a meal, the only other place I stopped was at a hotel in Baton Rouge on Friday night. I managed to squeak out 14 hours of driving on Friday. I'm proud of making it out of the state of Texas and into Baton Rouge. The goal was to face a smaller drive on Saturday, although the 7-hour drive was annoying as well. While driving through the remainder of Louisiana into Mississippi and through Alabama seemed simple, it just exacerbated the idea that I wasn't home yet. For a drive that began at 9:30 AM (CST), I made it home by 5:30 PM (EST). So I'm proud of myself.
Below are the few photos I did manage to take. Most are of the Texas landscape between El Paso and San Antonio. For some reason, I did not expect such a dynamic landscape. I was fooled by the several hundred miles of seemingly barren flat-ish land before I came across some of the more interesting locales. No photos from the other states I drove through are included because there really wasn't anything interesting to see from I-10 in those states.

I only took this picture for Megan Porter ;-).

But that El Paso is on MST.
